It’s as easy as pushing a button, and with an internal GPSreceiver (GPS I/O version only), the TerraFix will acquire your GPSposition and transmit it along with your personalized identifier codethrough the SARSAT satellites instantly alerting SAR forces that youneed help, immediately!
 
The TerraFix works fast, if GPS data is present in the beacon’sfirst burst, SAR forces can be notified and start planning your rescuein as little as three minutes.

  • Transmits on 406 MHz via the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite systemwith your registered unique, digitally coded distress signal and 121.5MHz (SAR local homing frequency).
  • Onboard GPS (P/N 2798.4only) acquires LAT/LON when the unit is activated, your LAT/LON istransmitted as soon as acquired providing rescue agencies with yourexact position to within 100 meters (110 yards).
  • GPSInterface (NMEA 0183) allows you to download your GPS coordinates froma hand-held GPS receiver into your PLB; when activated, your LAT/LONwill accompany your 406 MHz signal on the first burst, dramaticallysaving valuable time for your distress message to reach local rescuecenters.
  • Easily carried in a pack or pocket; small enough tobe worn by skiers, hikers, hunters,  kayakers, climbers, pilots or anyoutdoor enthusiast.
  • Removable holster provides functionality,style and protection for your PLB; holster allows for multiple mountingoptions on backpacks, webbing, and life vests.
  • Full functional self test of internal circuitry, battery power, 406 MHz transmission, and GPS* acquisition (*P/N 2798.4 only).
  • Flat, stainless steel antenna wraps compactly around the unit for easy stowage; is easily positioned when needed.
  • Floats to avoid loss if dropped in water, exceeds RTCM waterproof requirements.

Terrafix 406 I: User may plug a GPS unit into this device to transmitcoordinates or use without GPS for location via Doppler Shifttechnology (not as fast or precise as using GPS coordinates).

Terrafix 406 I/O: Contains on board GPS for simple coordinate transmission. Also works via Doppler Shift technology.
